Dai tempi del Viaggio in Italia di Goethe, seguito dai nobili
di mezza Europa, il capoluogo toscano è stato meta di
pellegrinaggi dei giovani rampolli dell’intellighenzia europea,
artisti, musicisti e nobili che qui venivano a svernare. Gli “inglesi”
di Camera con vista in realtà erano americani, russi, tedeschi,
polacchi. Città cosmopolita dai tempi dei Medici Firenze non
ha mai rinunciato al ruolo di città d’arte, ospitale e carismatica.

aristocrats of half of Europe, the Tuscan capital has been the
destinationof pilgrimages of the youngof-springs of the European
Intelligentsia, artists, musicians and noblemen who came here to
spend the winter. The “Englishmen” of Room With a View were
really Americans, Russians, Germans, Poles. Cosmopolitan city
since the times of the Medicis, Florence has never renounced the
role of City of Art, hospitable and charismatic.
